Project Overview
Who is Lanctôt? Lanctôt is a company specializing in floor coverings, founded in 1883 and managed with passion by 5 generations of Lanctôt. They have a wide range of products (wood, laminate, ceramic, stone, carpets, installation products, etc.) and the reputation of their customer service is second to none. In addition to their transactional site, the company has two stores in Saint-Isidore and Longueuil with showrooms and a designer service on-site. A pioneer in their industry, Lanctôt is today the largest flooring company in Quebec.
Our collaboration got underway in April 2019. The company then operated with an outdated showcase site, both visually and functionally. Being a custom-built site without a content management system (CMS), modifications were laborious. When we met with the management team, Lanctôt explained to us that they wanted to begin their digital shift by acquiring a modern platform, which could present their expertise and products and could become a transactional site for their full range of materials during a second stage. Thus, the essentials of the mandate were clearly established. The redesign refreshed the company’s image, created a product catalogue and established the foundations of an ecommerce website while simplifying site management.

Migration of the site to a transactional platform and a refresh of the company’s visual identity to begin their digital shift.
Our approach
We deployed our strategic analysis phase consisting of four workshops to better understand the company, their industry and their competitors so as to target new opportunities linked to their online presence. We offered support to render the different functionalities of a transactional site easily comprehensible for the team responsible for ecommerce at Lanctôt.
UX/UI Design
After our workshops, our design team modernized the company’s graphical identity, adapting it for the Web, in order to offer Lanctôt an aesthetic consistent with their expertise and products. We designed a user experience that took into account all the details and specificities of shopping for floor coverings online, providing Lanctôt customers with tools to simplify their purchases.
Magento development
We compiled and harmonized all the data relating to the different products to build a detailed catalogue, including maintenance advice and other guidelines. We created various bespoke features like sample ordering and a surface calculator. We also integrated all the basic functionalities of a transactional site (payment, shipping rules) to put the company’s digital development on the right track.
